If someone told me this story, I would think they were lying. Or crazy.
After I was sewn up from my laborious c-section and they laid Max on me for some ‘skin to skin’ time, the first thing he did was move his right arm across my chest, lift his head up to my left breast and tried to nurse. For REAL. I thought newborns weren’t supposed to be able to lift their head? Let alone know where to find their food. But we all saw it. Joe, me and the two nurses all reacted with the same surprised, Keanu Reeves style, “Whoa”.
Let me tell you, I FELT his strength while he was in my belly. But I don’t think that anyone believed me as to just HOW strong, until now.
And the Pediatrician has commented on Max’s strength a couple of times. Once he tried to demonstrate, using Max, to show us how newborns can’t support their own head… but it didn’t work out as he wanted to because Max was sort of supporting his own head.
Plus the Pediatrician was surprised at how quickly the circumcision and his chord healed too. They say the chord will usully fall off between 1 – 4 weeks, but Max’s was gone in less than 1 week. And the circumcision healed ahead of schedule.
I say he’s just living up to his name. You can’t be called Maximus without being somewhat of a gladiator.
He IS strong! Congrats on a healthy baby boy!
