Tie a yellow ribbon

I told you about our front yard tree that went down in the last big wind storm. It’s the city’s property since it was between the curb and the sidewalk so they planned to replace it for us.

When I saw the city doing work in the neighborhood last fall – both sidewalk repair and tree planting, I called. I wondered if we had a choice as to what tree could be planted. They said I could choose between three different types.

We chose oak. And it was finally planted this month. It will take a long time to grow to the size of our lost tree and it won’t smell as pretty. But we’ll get to watch it change grow over the years… along with Max and Sarah.
