Easy as pie

OH MY GOODNESS.  I didn’t think it could be done.  At least not this easily (knock on wood).  Max finally slept in his own crib, in his own room last night!

Max has been sleeping in his swing during the night for the last few months simply because we discovered HE WOULD SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!  Yes, one magical night, when everyone was sleep deprived, in his swing,  he slept the whole night.  Hallelujah!  Hungry for sleep, it just became the routine.

We know why he liked it, it sort of cocooned him the way it curved around him.  Who wouldn’t sleep like a baby when snuggled in like that?

But we knew it couldn’t last.  Eventually he’d outgrow the swing.  I pictured him at 5 years old, legs dangling on the floor, the swing bowed from the weight.  The horror on the faces of friends and family.

We’d tried when he was around 2.5 months to place him back in his bassinet where he slept the first month.  But he wasn’t having it.  He woke up every hour.  So back to the swing he went.  Are you kidding? We wanted SLEEP!

But yesterday (I think his age helps) he slept in his crib, in his own room. And he only woke up once at 2:30am.  OK, I couldn’t get him back to sleep until 4:30, but then he slept until 7:30am.  Overall it was a good night.  Easy as pie, right?  Oh, and knock on wood again too.
