I know I talk a lot about baby, baby, baby, blah, blah, blah. But it sort of consumes my life right now. I am almost ready for him with only a few more necessities to buy before he makes his debut.
And to help out with that, Joe’s mom threw us a baby shower in Missouri over the weekend and we attended… via Skype! Isn’t that a fun idea? She got all the girls together out there, they did the baby shower thing, and we got to see and chat with everyone while we sat right here in Cali. And my laptop made it possible to even give a tour of the baby room.
They drank wine and snacked and showed us gifts and now they’re mailing them off to us. It was a really sweet idea and really nice of everyone to take the time and effort to get together.
I know Skype has been around for a long time and is old news, but I have to admit, I still thought that was pretty cool. The only thing better would have been to be there personally by saying, “Beam me up, Scotty.”
These twin boys are having a VERY in-depth and important conversation…
Seriously, once I’m up in the morning, I don’t sit still until I fall into bed exhausted. And sometimes I’m not even exhausted, I just know I SHOULD be sleeping so I make myself go to bed somewhere around midnight. I thought I was supposed to get all tired again in this third trimester like I was in the first trimester, but most days I’m still full piss and vinegar!
I’ll admit that yesterday I was calm and relaxed. Perhaps it was all due to my magical acupuncture treatment and getting a pedicure. WHAT? I can’t give birth without a fresh pedicure! This is Los Angeles! What were you thinking?
Today however I’m back at my usual pace. And it’s a good thing I have all this energy because yes, this is still a house of chaos AND there is a LOT to be accomplished in the next few weeks or however long we have before this baby makes his way into the world. I’m surprised he hasn’t climbed out yet with all my busyness and running around, you would think he’d want out so he could get some rest.
Remember how I said I thought I’d wear flowy dresses and be like a goddess while I was pregnant? Well, I also thought in the last month of pregnancy I’d want to or have to lay around like a princess awaiting the arrival of this baby. Ha! Foiled again. Everything seems to have come to a head and we have important projects that must be completed in the next few weeks.
We had our baby shower on the day of the Oscar’s this year, so I set my DVR to capture some of the Oscar fun. I never did get around to watching all of it, but I caught this interview and thought it was HILARIOUS!
George, one of the hosts for ABC’s On The Red Carpet is flustered here when he obviously wasn’t ready to be on camera at the moment and then tells Susanne Bier (Director of “In A Better World” which won Best Foreign Film) “I’m sorry, we were a little stunned because you’re wearing this gorgeous necklace.” Excuse me? WHAT did he just say? The reason he is flustered and doesn’t know what to do is BECAUSE OF HER NECKLACE?
He doesn’t know who she is and has to ask “You’re nominated for your work in a foreign film, CORRECT?” And when she mentions “Being a film director is quite wonderful”, there is an awkward silence as neither host responds.
After they turn their back to her to face camera and she’s still standing there wondering if she should stay or go, George then starts PLAYING WITH HER NECKLACE and says “SHE’S SHOWIN’ THIS. SHE’S SHOWIN’ THIS. SHE’S SHOWIN’ THIS”. OMG! I felt so bad for her. Her view of America was FOREVER changed after this awkward interview.
Look, I totally understand what it’s like to be doing interviews on the fly and not always knowing exactly who you are talking to in this type of setting, but this was just really funny to me. Reporting at one of it’s most AWKWARD and HILARIOUS moments.
This was the first new addition to the nursery. I swear Joe’s mom must have been on her computer watching me create the baby registry at Amazon becasue this glider chair arrived on my doorstep within a week as a gift from her! She’s fast! What a great Grandma she is, spoiling him already.
And now we have three dogs in the house with this little blue jellycat Cordy Roy Dog from my friend Kay.
