I know many people who are able to work from home either part-time or full-time. Without it, their cost for daycare and other expenses would be much more. Perhaps too much, making their living expenses more than their salary.
I don’t have a job in which I can work from home. Can you imagine? “Hi, can I just read my lines via skype?” Haha. But I LOVE that many companies have opened up, expanded and adapted to the changes in society. America is not currently the most “family friendly” of all countries, but hearing more and more about flex-time and working from home, I had my hopes up for a better future.
So, I think it goes without saying that when I read about Marissa Mayer’s horrible new plan to take working from home away from Yahoo employees, who already have that woven into their lives, I was very disappointed. Not only for the loss of moving forward as a society, but the loss of women knowing how to lead well. I have high expectations from women who are leaders to pave the way. She’s obviously lacking.
And then I read about how Marissa Mayer is always late and not respectful of other people’s time. It just sort of confirmed and summed her up. Don’t you think? Just because SHE doesn’t know how to manage her time well, or want to spend time with her family, or have a life outside of Yahoo! doesn’t mean Yahoo! employees should have to live that way too.
How do you entertain a 9 month old and a 22 month old at the same time? Some days are easier than others.
One night, Max sort of made up his own game. Or, is it more of a song with a backwards march? I don’t know for sure, but as you’ll see – it includes a running hug to me so hey, whatever it is – I like it!
Remember when I posted a video of Max laughing at nothing. And then there was the “yes, no, yes, no” laugh until you puke video. Well I caught Sarah hanging out just sort of giggling to herself so I just had to video her. I guess I surprised her because she just about tipped over at the beginning of this video. Oh how I love a house with laughing babies in it.
I didn’t watch the Superbowl. Am I the only person in America that didn’t? I took Max to a two year old birthday party in the early afternoon and watching the Superbowl just really wasn’t on the list of priorities.
We were invited to a couple of parties, but our babies need naps. Plus drinking a beer while holding a baby, somehow never tastes as good. Nor does it taste as good while paying a babysitter.
I did hate missing the commercials (and Beyonce). I’m just now getting around to watching the ones I heard were good. I would think the funny ads would be most appealing to me since that’s pretty much all I watch when it comes to TV shows and movies. But last year, it was Chrysler’s commercial with Clint that won me over and this year it’s Dodge’s “Farmer”.
I’m sure you and everyone else in the world has already seen it. I’m a bit behind. But even if you have, it’s worth watching again:
One of Max’s latest things is to put this little red bucket on and off Sarah’s head. If it falls off while it should be on, “Oh no!” he’ll exclaim, and quickly place it back on her head. It’s super cute and funny unless he first clumsily slams it into her face as he’s trying to put it on her. Or if the yellow handle gets wrapped around her chin as he tries to yank it off.
But I try to let them interact freely. As much as possible. And like we had to teach Max to be gentle with the dogs, we also have to remind Max not to slam books, toys and other miscellaneous objects on to her head.
It’s a toddler thing, right? We won’t still be dealing with this when they are teenagers? Or will we…
