Have you been naughty or nice?

You left me alone with two dogs and a santa hat and thought this WOULDN’T happen?

Twist

I’ll have a chocolate and vanilla twist with caramel.

Turkey or No Turkey?

This Thanksgiving I didn’t do any cooking or baking and.. I liked it!  I just picked up a pumpkin pie, whip cream and a bottle of cider and drove it on over to a lovely french woman’s house and celebrated with friends who had done all the cooking, baking and decorating.  A fire in the fireplace, music, yummy food and good company.

I don’t generally include photos of others unless I’ve asked their permission first, which I haven’t as of this typing.  Maybe when my blog isn’t as new or friends unaware, I’ll start posting pictures of others.  It will become a “mingle with Kate at your own risk (of being in her blog)” sort of thing.  But for now, here’s at least a picture of the turkey!

And speaking of turkey, I do always have second thoughts on whether to continue eating one of the millions of turkeys that get slaughtered every year for the holiday, or if I should switch to a Tofurkey.

And really, should we even celebrate Thanksgiving at all if it’s a celebration of the Pilgrims arriving to new land, calling it America, and taking over?

Both of those things cross my mind every year, but on the day, it’s always a warm, fun holiday with friends or family and a reminder to give thanks for every little good thing in life.

Happy Thanksgiving

It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you’ve got.
– Sheryl Crow

Many of us spend our days working towards something, which is healthy, but remember to balance that with being thankful for all that you already have.  And find time to consciously be thankful every day, not just on Thanksgiving.

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire
If you did, what would there be to look forward to

Be thankful when you don’t know something
for it  gives you the opportunity to learn

Be thankful for the difficult times
During those times you grow

Be thankful for your limitations
because they give you opportunities for improvement

Be thankful for each new challenge
because it will build your strength and character

Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
because it means you’ve made a difference

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they become your blessing

Leonardo & Al

Last night I dreamt I worked in an office and Al Pacino became my new boss.  And boy was he bossy!  He was such a mean boss.  And very in to red pens.  I searched everyone’s desk and even their cars in the parking structure below for red pens.  I remember thinking, is he playing a character?  Why is he so mean?  Doesn’t he know how to ever stop acting?  Doesn’t he know he can just be himself with us?  I’ll never look at a red pen the same.

Why am I even telling you about my stupid dream?  There’s nothing about that dream that is even particularly interesting or strange, I KNOW! But for me it’s odd because 1) I usually dream about people I’ve seen recently, either in real life or somewhere in the media and 2) I dreamt about Leonardo DiCaprio the night before.  I’ve never worked with either of them and I haven’t even so much as heard their names for weeks.  So I personally find it strange.  And hey, it’s my blog so I can write about whatever I want, right?

In the dream with Leonardo, my parents were driving, with Leo and I in the back seat.  We were driving to the set of a film he was working on and my mom didn’t recognize him.  She was talking to him like he was a beginning actor and he just went along with it, explaining that he was studying and workin on it.  Good ol’ mom, not much into Hollywood, even in my dreams.
