Babee needs covered

There are a LOT of things you NEED when having a baby.  I don’t like shopping and dreaded all the money and time that had to be spent getting baby necessities.  Not to mention finding space in my home, car and diaper bag for all these things.

And what about the time between baby #1 and baby #2 (or #3, and #4)?  Now you also need storage space!

My goal was to only get the essentials and not waste time and money on things I didn’t really need.

There are so many baby items on the market, it’s hard to know (especially when it’s your FIRST baby) what you’ll really need…  and what can you do without.

There are a few things you HAVE to have.  One example: Blankets.

I’ll be out running errands on a hot day and realize it’s too chilly for little Sarah in the store and need a blanket to wrap around her.  Or, I’ll be out at the park and need ground cover for diaper changes.  There’s always a need for a blanket.

Now, what if your blanket could also be used as a shopping cart cover?  A nursing cover?  A high chair cover?  What if your blanket could function as several things because it’s specially designed to do so?

That would be awesome, right?  Well, there is such a blanket!  It’s called a Babee Covee.

I always keep my Baby Covee with me and now I don’t have to buy or lug around all of those things separately: blanket, nursing cover, high chair cover, shopping cart cover… I have ONE blanket that does ALL of these things!  It takes up so much less space (and less money too).  It’s ONE blanket that functions as SIX baby necessities.

I got the color green so I could use it for both Max and Sarah, but it also comes in pink or blue.  It’s so soft and luxurious!  The first thing I did when I got it was wrap Sarah up in it and let her feel how plush and silky it felt against her skin.

And look how cute it is as a shopping cart cover for my grocery store date with Max!

Terrence who?

I got a call to audition for a feature film when Sarah was just 3 weeks old.  I asked the casting director, “You want me to what?  Leave the house?  I don’t remember how to do that…”

I’d just spent the last three weeks at home recovering from the c-section and feeding Sarah around the clock so forget that it was for an interesting project. I was just excited to leave the house!  Alone.  Able to use both hands at once.  I felt so free on the drive there.  I felt like shouting “Look Ma, both hands! I have BOTH hands to use AT ONCE!”  And no one needs me to change their diaper, or feed them, or make them lunch, or read them a story, or… oh my goodness THIS is what it’s like to be single and childless… aaand still searching for Mr. Right.  To hook-up with.  And start a family.  Ha!

Having been pregnant since 2010 (first Max and then Sarah), I really hadn’t paid much attention to Hollywood.  Or was it more that Hollywood hadn’t paid much attention to me?  It seems that no one in this town wants to hire a pregnant woman!

So when the casting director was explaining to me that I should be excited about this audition/project because Terrence Malick was directing, I said “Who?”

I had no idea who she was talking about. Maybe I’d have understood if she’d said it in baby talk? “T” is for Terrence and “M” is for…

And the reason to be excited, I was told, was because Terrence directed Oscar nominated “The Tree of Life” with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.

But you see, this year, I don’t even remember the Oscar’s happening. I’m sure I was measuring my once again growing belly from Sarah, changing Max’s diaper, getting spit up on, doing laundry, making a bottle… all at the same time.

And the year before? I spent the Oscars having a baby shower.  Literally, ON the day of the Oscar’s I had my baby shower for Max in 2011.

The Oscar’s before all these babies?

Now you ask, “Did you book the part in the film?”  Why, thanks for asking.  Yes, yes I did. And that’s all I can tell you about it for now. Like I’ve said before, they make everyone sign confidentiality agreements these days. Mums the word until the film is out and by then you’ll know for yourself if I made the cut or not.

The latest addition

I’m going to… do a blog post!

Both babies are asleep! At the same time! This doesn’t happen often since Sarah isn’t on a sleep schedule yet. She still just sort of dozes in and out all day.

I have to wake Max up soon, so I only have a whole 30 minutes! What to do with 30 whole minutes? Well, I decided to post here to you!

Just wanted to share a funny ad I saw the other day. Swiffer has a new campaign and I think it’s really good. So true. When you are a busy mom, it always feels so amazing to have just a few precious minutes to yourself. A really simple idea, executed well.

Baby Talk

This is Sarah a few weeks ago when she was a little over one month old.  She does a lot of “talking” and smiling and laughing, but as soon as I get the camera out she stops!  Just like Max used to do!

I’ll keep getting the camera out so she gets used to it. And one of these days I’ll capture one of our little “chats”. For now, here’s just a little snippet.
